The Introduction to John's First LetterThe Introduction to John's First Letter Posted: 05 Jul 2009 08:23 AM PDT Read 1 John 1:1-4. What is John saying to us with those words? What hope can you take from them for yourself? Also, why do you believe him?    Read 1 John 1:1-4.    When John says these words he is declaring the authority that    he has to deliver the message of Jesus. Now John is not simply    boasting about something that he heard his message about Jesus    is not second hand. Johns message about Jesus is about his    person experience with the Savior. John breathed the same air    that Jesus breathed he walked the same steps that Jesus walked    He was there He as 100% engaged in the life of Jesus       in these verses John does not not only want to show us his    connection with Jesus , but he wants to invite us into that    connection. John wants us to be about to experience what he    experienced and he seeks the bring us into that reality. In    the place where John endeavors to take is where we find hope.    We were were alive when Jesus was, but through the writings    of John we can experience Jesus as if we were there.       I believe because when I read the pages of scripture it    brings me in contact with the God of the scriptures. I    was not there with Jesus, but through the scriptures I    can experience Jesus Christ a fresh. What two things does John say will come as a result of his declaration about "the Word of life?" |
