Sabbath School Lesson - A Love Relationship

A Love Relationship

Posted: 30 Mar 2010 06:10 AM PDT

When asked what was the most important of all commandments, Jesus responded: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment" (Matt. 22:37, 38). What does that text mean? How are we to do what Jesus commands here?

This passage is talking about having a total commitment to Jesus. This
means that we serve Him and love Him with our entire being. We serve
Him with our thoughts , we cherish beautiful holy and exalted
concepts, and we shun that which is debased and deplorable.

We must also love God with our affections , what are the things that
we are attracted to and the things that we invest our time in. We
must seek to invest our time in the things that please God and
the things that are connected to His purposes

God also desires to have control over our wills , He wants us to
yield our ability to chose over to Him and trust that he knows what
is best for us. God is looking for a Love toward him which has no
reservations for anything or anyone other than Him.

Why would love for God be the most important of all relationships? Why would that be so fundamental? What spiritual dangers arise if we love something, anything, more than God

Love for God is important because when you love God it is seen
in everything that you do. Your love for God is also manifested
in the things that you think about and the things that you
invest your time in. Love is something which is very powerful
and if we love anything more than God that thing becomes our god.

We must seek to release our affections from anything which fights
for the position that only God should have.

What is your own experience in loving God? How do you know that you love God? Write out a paragraph expressing what that means and how that love has changed your life. Bring it to class on Sabbath.

To love God means to spend time with Him in His word and to spend
time sharing His love with others. Love for God should cause
us to behave differently and to desire different things. The Love
of God changes us into better people, it makes is more liked
Jesus and more loving people. I can testify because it has done
it for me. The love of God has made me into totally new person
than when I did not know and experience His love.

Prayer
: Father we thank you for your love. I pray that you will release us from anything which seeks to take the position that only belongs to you. Please help us to love you with our whole beings. In Jesus name amen.

A Spot for You in God's Kingdom - March 31, 2010

"A Spot for You in God's Kingdom"

Watch the devotional now:

Summary: Many people have this idea that God is only going to begrudgingly let people in to Heaven...and many give up on God because they feel they'll never be good enough to "pass the test." This verse paints a radically different picture of God. The truth is that He thinks His Kingdom wouldn't be the same without you!

Verse: "Say to them: 'As I live,' says the Lord God, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'"
—Ezekiel 33:11

"Dealing With Disputes"

Watch the devotional now:

Summary: God is always going to be your best option when it comes to navigating the problems in your life—even arguments. After all, He's the only one who knows the hearts of everyone in a dispute!

Verse: "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."

Sabbath School Lesson - God of Grace

Sabbath School Lesson - God of Grace

God of Grace

Posted: 29 Mar 2010 02:41 AM PDT

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Eph. 2:8, 9, NKJV). Summarize in your own words the meaning of this text. Ask yourself this question too: Why must salvation be by faith and not by works? Why can works not save us? See Gal. 3:21.

This passage explains the mode by which we are saved. The salvation of
man if made possible by the grace of God. Grace is simply receiving
something that you do not deserve. Grace is the unmerited favor of
God, the kindness of God extended toward us not because of anything
that we have done.

We do not deserve to be saved on our own, we deserve death. Because
each person who sins is worthy to receiving this punishment. (Ezk 18:20)
Therefore we must have faith in one who knew no sin. "Surely our griefs He
Himself bore, And our sorrows He Carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him
stricken of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our
well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed."(Is 53:5)

We have access to the Grace of God through faith in what Christ
has done for us in offering himself as a substitute for our sins.

He was treated as we deserved, that we might be treated as He deserved.
He was condemned for our sins in which He had no share .He suffered
the death which was ours, that we might receive the life that was His.
(DOA 4,5)

If it were possible for our works to save us then there would have
been no reason for Jesus to die for our sins. The bible declares
that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Rom 3:23)
Our righteousness will never be good enough therefore we need
the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Dwell on the paragraph above. What answer do you have to those questions? After all, what have any of us done to deserve eternal life? Who among us is so worthy that it's understandable why Jesus would die for that person? How does your answer help you better understand just how grateful we should be for salvation? More important, how well do your works reveal that gratitude?

We do not deserve eternal life it is a gift which is freely given to us
through Jesus Christ. And of course the appropriate response to such
a gift should be gratitude manifested in our daily lives. We are not
only to be saved by faith, be we must also live by faith.

Prayer: Father thank you for the grace which is given us in Jesus Christ. We do not deserve such a great gift and such a great love. May our hearts explode with joy, and love and gratitude , loving service for this gift. Thank you in Jesus name amen.

The Judgment - March 29, 2010

"The Judgment"

Watch the devotional now

Summary: Today you will learn about one of the most unexpectedly powerful (and ubiquitous) words in the Bible...and it's only three letters long. In today's verse, it helps to reveal what will happen when the powers of darkness are finished forever.

Verse: "But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him."
—Daniel 7:26-27
