Never Ending Witnessing and Evangelism

Posted: 24 Jun 2012 05:40 AM PDT

Review Jesus' conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4:7–30. What was it about Jesus and what He said that she was excited to share with her townspeople? What principles of witnessing can we take from this account that can help us as we seek to reach others?

This woman had experienced something wonderful with Jesus. The sin that she was hiding was exposed, and Jesus accepted her. The woman found in Jesus someone she could trust with the darkest side of her life. This news was so wonderful for the woman that she went and told everyone about Jesus! As those who are called to be witnesses for Jesus Christ we can learn something from her example.

In order to witness we must have had an experience with Jesus. If we have not had an experience with Jesus then we will not be able to tell anything. After you have had an experience with Jesus you share it, with those who are closest to you. Before we run to tell the world we must tell those who are in our personal sphere. The witnessing that we do to those who are closest to us is our first task. We can use the gift of our influence over our friends to direct them to a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. The woman at the well leaves us a good example for witnessing.

How often do you take advantage of opportunities to witness or to minister? Isn't it true that so often we go about our lives, meeting people who—despite their interaction with us—have no idea of what we believe, what we stand for, or the hope that we have? How can we change so that we can be better witnesses?

Every day we have chances to share with people around us to witness we must only open up our eyes.

Prayer: Father pleas help us to be witnesses for. Thank you in Jesus name amen.

What the Lord Asks

Posted: 19 Jun 2012 03:05 AM PDT

Read the following verses and then, keeping in mind the context of this week (the whole quarter, actually), answer the questions that follow: " 'And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?'" (Deut. 10:12-13, NKJV).

If you were to summarize the essential meaning of these two verses, what would you say?

In the context of this weeks lesson this text gives us a way to evaluate our position with God. We are asked to Fear God walk in His ways and to love Him ect. We are not left in the dark as to what God requires of us He shares with us plainly and directly. God’s commands represent his will for us , and they are His means of evaluating us.

Of what New Testament text does this remind you, and why does this show us the great importance of the admonition of these verses in Deuteronomy?

Rev 14:6-12

The texts say that God "requires" (or "asks") these things of us. How are we to understand the meaning of this in the context of salvation by faith alone?

Our faith is manifested in our works. We will not have one without the other.

The texts themselves deal greatly with our heart, our soul, with love and with fear—things that are often hard to judge from outward appearances. What outward manifestations of these inward things do the verses talk about? How does the link here between the inward and outward fit in with our understanding of Revelation 14:6–12?

This passage talks about the posture of the heart , and the mind and the motivation of the life. When you are connected to God these things will show it.

Prayer: Lord God almighty please help us to do what you ask of us. Thank you in Jesus name amen.

Evaluate Kindly

Posted: 18 Jun 2012 03:38 PM PDT

What affirmation do you see in the following verses? In what ways could such affirmation be given today to individual workers or teams? Acts 16:1-2; Rom. 16:1; 1 Cor. 11:2; Phil. 4:14.

In ministry there are often unsung heroes who perform most of the work. These burden bearers could use some encouragement and recognition and affirmation from time to time. I believe that this type of recognition will help to keep those individuals moving forward with the work that they have been called to do.  Everyone needs some affirmation from time to time to help them to keep going.

Carefully read Hebrews 10:24-25. What does it mean to "consider one another" in this context? What evaluative principles are suggested?

This text lets us know that we must study how to motivate others toward good deeds. To consider one another means let us think about or let us study one another. This passage shows us a command of God to evaluate ourselves. The church body here is shown as a group who assembles to help each others personal development. The Church is a community and support network for believers and their families.

Think about how encouraging it is when someone affirms you, either simply for who you are as a person and/or your ministry. It's amazing how just a few simple words can do so much! What's your general attitude toward others? Do you tend toward criticism or toward affirmation? If the former, how can you change this destructive character trait?

If you find yourself to be more critical than affirming just take the time to think about how you feel when someone is affirming toward you. On the other hand you can also think about how you feel when someone is critical toward you. Both being critical and affirming are needed , but we must learn how to do so in the right way and time.

Prayer: Lord God almighty, help us to evaluate in love. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
