Stewardship

Posted: 09 Dec 2012 01:32 PM PST

In some underdeveloped countries, corporations produce goods and services at very low rates. Thus, creating jobs for those communities and boosting that country’s economy. However, some of these corporations dump waste in rivers and streams, while other corporations pollute the air making the air toxic to breathe. Although the country benefits from having jobs in the community, families suffer from the pollution of air and water they need to survive. They need to look at one word, Stewardship. Today we well look at how we all are stewards of what God has given us.

Look at the following passages. With each one ask yourself, Given my particular circumstances, how can I manifest in my own life the wonderful principles taught in these texts? How should these truths impact the way I live and how I relate to others, to God, and to the gifts that He has given me? Deut. 8:11-17

God is simply wonderful to His people. God takes a people who were under the throws of bondage and gives them the opportunity to start over again. God not only allows them to start over again but He allows them to prosper. Did you ever know someone who made it big but forgot where they came from? To bring it even closer to home, did you know someone who went away for college but forgot their home community that nurtured them? God is in this passage wants to remind His people that it was Him who will cause His people to be prosperous and successful. In light of what God has done for you it is your responsibility not to forget his goodness.

What we must remember that everything on this entire earth is God’s. Because everything on this earth is Gods then we must remember that He owns it all. Whatever we get while we are on this earth is because it was a gift of God.  Our responsibility it to not to selfishly take what God has been given us but to use it to help other people on this earth. We most not only think of our own interests but we must also think of of others.

Read again the texts for today. Which ones touch you the most, and why? What motivates you to try to live a life that involves seeking the good of others, as well as your own? Why is it so important for yourself, spiritually, to live for others?

When I think of stewardship I think of the parable of the talents. God went away but before he went away he gave gifts to His people. When God came back He wanted to find to find out what it was that you did with all that he gave to you. Stewardship is about making use of what God has given you. God is also going to take into account the good that you did with what he has given you. Did you try to help someone did you try to make a difference with the resources which you were given. Big companies have to value stewardship and even little companies of one.

Prayer: Lord we thank you that you have blessed us all. Help us to be good stewards of what you have given. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
