A Stage Set for Our Victory

Posted: 05 Nov 2012 09:47 AM PST

Study Ephesians 1:18-22. Paul prays for the enlightening of the eyes of the Christians in Ephesus. According to Paul, what did Christ accomplish for us? How do we understand these words in the context of the great controversy? What is promised to us here? How do we make these promises real in our own experience?

In the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we see a demonstration of the power in the God head. When Jesus is raised from the dead this reveals His power over the grave. In addition to his power over death He demonstrates His power over any other power on this earth. When we believe on Jesus Christ we can experience victory over any power on this earth.

In the context of the Great controversy Jesus is victorious over Satan and lays false all his claims about God. Jesus shows to the universe the true character of Satan at the cross and demonstrates his true power at the resurrection. How does this help us out in your day to day lives? When we are tempted and tried,  through Jesus we can have victory! Being a Christian is not easy but there is power in the blood of Jesus!

Notice Ephesians 1:20-22 in particular. What can we claim from these promises for ourselves and our struggles with forces stronger than we are?

In this passage it talks about how Jesus has power over every  other power and they are put under His feet. The bible tells us in Ephesians 6 that we do not wrestle with flesh and blood but principalities and powers. Jesus offers us victory over all of these powers through His own victory, because He won we won. The cross was a stage set for our victory.

Read the verses for today. What can you take from them for yourself in whatever struggles you are facing at the moment? Think about what is being said there and what is promised to us in Christ. How can this go from being mere theology to reality in our own experience?

We must remember to put into practice our faith. When we are confronted with the powers which seek to disrupt our faith we must remember Jesus. We must remember His victory and know we can have the same victory. We must practice our faith day by day.

Prayer: Father help us to put into practice your word. Thank you for the power you give us over every other power. Thank you in Jesus name amen.

Hope of Victory

Study Romans 8:26-39. What point is Paul trying to make here? What reasons does Paul give for the Christian to look confidently to the future? Look at all the wonderful promises and words of encouragement found in these verses. Again, how can we take them beyond theology, beyond something that sounds nice, and live according to the clear teachings of the Word of God presented here?

When we look at these words we can see that we truly serve an awesome God! Our God is powerful! Anything that we encounter on this earth, we know that God can help us go through it. When we are in the midst of something it seams impossible to see this sometimes. When the darkness of this impossibility surrounds us we must ask God to help us remember! We must practice the promises of God so that they become apart of us and not just a part on us. We we must hear the promises of God over and over and trust God in the little things so that he can develop our faith for larger things. In God we find our greatest hope of victory.

How does Paul's argument for boosting the confidence of the Christian reach a pinnacle in verses 31-34? Look especially at verse 31. In the context of the great controversy, what can we take from this verse for ourselves, personally?

This is an amazing statement. It almost sounds like a challenge. When God is on your side what or who is there on this earth who can be against you? If God is working my behalf who on this earth can be against me! When you are being challenged by something you can say if God is for me how can ________ be against me! Let me know how that works for you.

Prayer: Father help us to remember that you are for us and that no one can be against us. Help us to put your trust in your and to continually look to your for our help. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
