Timothy’s Substitute Visit

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 05:51 AM PDT

Read 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5 and Matthew 24:9-22. In what larger context does Paul see the sufferings of the Thessalonians and himself?

Here we are looking at two things. Paul is concerned about wanting Timothy in Athens and he is concerned with what is going on with the Thessalonians. Paul also does not want to have his labor to be in vain. Paul let the Thessalonians know this was something he said he would happen. Suffering is something that every believers should prepare themselves for in. As Christians we will experience suffering in some way or another. In the last days we must be prepared for the persecution we will face as Christians. We should not be caught by surprise if we experience suffering in life.

What are things we can do, day by day, to prepare ourselves spiritually for the inevitable trials that life brings us?

By understanding the context of the Great controversy we can prepare ourselves for the future. We must look at our suffering in the greater context of Gods planned and this helps us to not be anxious. You must also study and pray daily to stay strong in the faith. You have to understand this suffering is something which is normal. When we remember these things we will not be caught by surprise. God helps us in whatever trial we find ourselves in.

Prayer: Father please help us in the midst of our suffering. Thank you. In Jesus name amen.
