Assurance in Christ

Assurance in Christ

Read 1 Thessalonians 1:5. How do we gain the assurance that we are right with God? What three evidences in the lives of the Thessalonians indicated to Paul that they were right with God?

Having assurance in Christ is amazing. I love when God does things because He does it right. The empty advice of the day sounds good to the ear but at the end of the day where do you find the power to be. God’s word is accompanied with power to do what He asks. The Gospel brings the power that you need to live the way that the Gospel asks you to live. According to Paul there are three evidences that the Thessalonians are right with God. There is power, there is the Holy Spirit, and there is an assurance. These three things give evidence of your standing with God. Over all you have an assurance in Christ through the Holy Spirit.

How does one know that the Holy Spirit is present and real in one's life and in the local church? See Gal. 5:19-23, 1 Cor. 12:1-11.

From these passages we understand that there is evidence of the Holy Spirit. The evidence of the Holy Spirit is fruit. When the Holy Spirit has control of our lives we will see the fruit of the Holy Spirit. On the other hand we may also see the fruit of the flesh working in our lives. Another evidence that the Spirit is working in our lives is that we will manifest the fruits of the Spirit. When we have our assurance in Christ we will we will see evidences of that.

How much assurance of salvation do you have? On what, in the end, must that assurance be based?

I know that Jesus have provided all that I need to be saved. I must only accept what he has given me. Sometimes you may get weary in your christian walk but continue to hold on to Christ. According to the work everyone can have an assurance in Christ.

Prayer: Lord God almighty, help us to find our assurance in Christ. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
