Posted: 17 Jun 2012 07:11 AM PDT What do the following texts tell us about the importance of evaluation? And what kind of evaluation do the following verses suggest? 1 Tim. 3:1–13; 1 Cor. 11:28; 2 Cor. 13:5-6.
Evaluation in these texts helps us to determine how we are doing spiritually.Evaluation also determines if we are qualified for specific positions in the Church. In these texts we see two types of evaluation. One type of evaluation is done by the self and the other is done by a peer group. This a Accreditation / certification model, where programs are based on self-study and peer review of organizations, programs, and personnel 1. Read through the gospel commission of Matthew 28:19-20. What evaluative questions would you ask when considering your church's response to this command? Are we going forth from the Church seeking the lost? Read again 2 Corinthians 13:5. What does the text say to you personally? How can you apply it to yourself? What evidence do you have that "Jesus Christ is in you"? I believe that we must examine our lives in comparison to the life of Christ. Christ is our perfect example in all things. As we look into the face of Christ we see where we have fallen short and he is able to lift us up. The evidence is when we have the mind of Christ, and we display the life of Christ. It is a process that we go through. We must present ourselves before Christ, our motives , our thoughts are evaluated by His word. Christ desires that all our thoughts but brought into subjection to his will. Prayer: Lord God Almighty, We thank you for the evaluation process. Help us to examine ourselves daily. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
