Milk and Solid Food

Posted: 30 Apr 2012 03:39 AM PDT

Compare 1 Corinthians 3:1–3 and 1 Peter 2:2. What do you think Paul and Peter were specifically referring to when they spoke of milk and solid food and the need to grow? In your mind, what is theological milk as opposed to solid food?

In these two passages milk can mean a few things. Theological milk is for those who are babes in Christ. Milk is the precious truths of the gospel such as the love of God , salvation, forgiveness of sins, ect. These are the basic things you learn when you accept Christ. Solid theological food could be bible prophecy and understanding present truth for this age. As we mature spiritually our spiritual diet should change in order to support our growth. We do not want to be malnourished Christians or Christians with arrested development.

Read John 16:12. What important point do we find here? How can we learn to apply this principle in the ways in which we deal with others?

When Jesus was speaking  He knew how much his disciples could understand and process. In same way when we deal with others we should be able to gauge what they can and can not receive. Just because something can be said does not mean it needs to be said. I believe that Jesus demonstrated this principle with His disciples.

Think about some Bible truth that you struggled with at first that you found hard to accept. Over time, how did you eventually settle into that truth? What did you learn from this experience that could help you to be more sensitive in your outreach to others?

One of the most challenging things to understand is the investigative Judgement. I did not understand this whole day year principle or even how this prophecy applied to my life today. As I grew I understood how important this prophecy is to our framework of truth and how it applies to me today. When I remember this I have to realize that everyone takes time to grow , as did I

Prayer: Lord God Almighty, Thank you for the spiritual food that you provide us , help us to understand when to share milk and when to share solid food. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
