Sequential Evangelism and Felt Needs Posted: 29 Apr 2012 05:51 AM PDT Read Luke 9:11. What does this verse indicate regarding Jesus' desire to heal both physically and spiritually? In our spheres, how can we seek to do the same thing for those whom we are trying to reach?
Jesus was able to provide a comprehensive ministry for those whom He ministered to. Jesus not only met the physical needs of the people but he also met the spiritual needs of the people. Jesus preached the kingdom of God and He also healed the people. The passage uses the word need. As we minister to others we must be aware of their needs. We can learn from Jesus’ example by also providing a comprehensive ministry meeting both physical needs and spiritual needs. Examine Matthew 25:35–40. What is the message there? How seriously do we really take those words, or do we just see them as a metaphor? That is, if we really believed them, how differently would we act? This is a very powerful message. Whatever we do for anyone we are doing it for Jesus. When we help someone who is in need we are offering a ministry to and for Jesus. I can see this is like when you take care of someones children you make the parents happy. Seeing that we are all Gods children He smiles upon anyone who offers ministry to them. I believe somethings that help we offer to people is not very helpful at all. While we are to help people we should not do so to their own detriment. Prayer: Lord God Almighty, we ask that you will open our eyes to the ministry around us. Help us to see others as you do. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
