Read John 13:35. According to Jesus, what is one special way His followers are identified? What does that mean in practical terms?

Christians are known by the love that they demonstrate to one another. In practical terms your life and your attitude towards people demonstrates your Christianity more than your words and good intentions. People will be able to know you by the fruit that you produce. This makes the christian lifestyle very practical. We must walk the walk of Christianity and not simply talk the talk.

Read 2 Corinthians 3:2-3. What is Paul saying about the way in which God wants to use His people to influence the lives of others?

In the same way that Paul wrote letters to the Churches we are supposed to be God’s letter to the world. Our lives should demonstrate the reality of our Christianity. We are to be the bible that people may never read. The way that we live our lives should encourage people to want to know more about the God that we serve.

How have you been affected by those whose actions matched their profession? How have you been affected by those whose actions didn't match their profession? How can you always remember that your actions will influence others, one way or another?

It is very disappointing to me when I come in contact with a person who’s actions do not match their profession. On the other hand it is refreshing when I meet a person who is congruent to their profession. I believe that your own authenticity is not only important for others but also important for yourself. God can help us when we recognize our need, but when we do not recognize our need we are in a difficult place.

Prayer: Lord God almighty, help us to demonstrate our Christianity more than we profess our Christianity. Thank you for your grace to do so. In Jesus name amen.
