Posted: 04 Dec 2011 12:01 PM PST Read Galatians 1:3, 4; 2:16; and 3:13. What are some of the metaphors used in these verses, and how do they help us understand what Christ has done for us? In these verses we see that God is represented as our Father and rescuer. Paul uses the language of the legal system, and he talks about the language of faith. Paul utilizes the language of redemption to describe what Christ has done for us. Christ is the one who rescues us from the penalty of sin through what he has done for us on the cross. Jesus is our Lord ,Savior ,and redeemer, because of this we love obey and serve Him. Look at your own life. Do you ever think that you could save yourself? What should your answer tell you about how grateful you need to be for what we have been given in Jesus? I recognize that I am incapable of saving myself because I have no righteousness save the righteousness of Christ. There is nothing that joins me to God except what I have by faith through Jesus Christ. It would be a grave presumption to even imagine that I could save myself. When it appears that I am doing things ”Right” I could see how I could think such a thing, but my own track record has shown me that I am constantly in need of the grace of God. Prayer: Father thank you for your grace that you have given us. Thank you Father for rescuing us from the pits of sin. Help us to put our trust in your daily, in Jesus name amen. |
