Sabbath School Lesson - Promise and Law |
Posted: 28 Jul 2010 05:35 AM PDT Tuesday's Lesson - Promise & Law Read Romans 4:14–17. How does Paul here continue showing how salvation by faith was central to the Old Testament? See also Gal. 3:7–9.In this passage Paul seeks to explain that the promise can not come by observance of the law but only through faith. Consequently if it was by keeping of the law then it would nullify the promise. The promise is not only for those who are of the law but those who are also of the faith of Abraham. Just as Abraham believed and God gave him credit for righteousness all who believe God will give them credit for righteousness. Because this is a promise of faith it is available to the Jew and gentile alike. In Galatians 3:7-9 we understand that it was through Abraham that all nations would be blessed. Because of this promise, we understand that it was by faith that they were to receive that blessing. As each individual exhibited the same faith of Abraham no matter their nationality they would become heirs to the promise. Prayer: Father thank you for the promise of salvation. Help us to receive your promise of salvation by faith. Thank you in Jesus name Amen. |
