Sabbath School Lesson - Sexual Integrity |
Posted: 02 Jun 2010 04:30 AM PDT Wednesday's Lesson - Sexual Integrity Read Romans 1:26, 27; 1 Corinthians 6:15-18; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 1:7. What is the basic message of these texts to us today? Rom 1:26-27 Our God is a God of love He will never force us to serve and obey Him against our will. When we constantly refuse to yield our sinful desires to Him there are consequences. In this passage we find people worshiping what was created rather than the creator, the truth of God was exchanged for a lie. Truth is our protection and when we refuse to accept it we are left subject to our basest passions. The principle of this passage is that we must acknowledge that God is creator. We must put nothing that is created before the Creator. We must have a desire to accept truth even if it cuts against feelings and emotions. A desire to honor God and accept truth is a protector against sexual impurity. 1 Cor 6:15-18 The deceleration of this passage is that if you have sexual intercourse with someone then you are becoming one with that person. As Christians our bodies belong to Christ therefore we must not join our bodies to anyone else outside of marriage. This passage debunks the myth that there is such a thing as casual sex. There is nothing casual about sex because despite how careless the act is something spiritual takes place in each instance. This reality is why God intended sex to be reserved exclusively for marriage. 1 Thes 4:3 If one should ever find themselves in a relationship where sexual immorality is involved there is no need to pray about Gods will. This passage clearly states that it is Gods will for us to abstain from sexual immorality. Jude 1:7 Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of sexual immorality. What are your temptations, struggles, frustrations and fears in this special area of human life? Whatever your situation, how can you better avail yourself of the promises of God to see you through them? Prayer: Father we are humans, and you remember that we are but dust. Have mercy Lord , Have Mercy. We need your strength to be pure, we need your strength to resist temptation. Help us Father. In Jesus name. |
