Sabbath School Lesson - The Post Flood Diet |
Posted: 14 Jun 2010 03:57 AM PDT Monday's Lesson - The Post Flood Diet Read Genesis 9:3, 4, and compare it with Genesis 1:26–30. What change came to the human diet because of the Flood? Why do you think this happened? How does this change reflect an even greater disharmony brought to the earth because of sin? In Geneses 9:3,4 we find that the post flood diet includes eating animals. The stipulation for eating animals is that they must not be eaten without blood. In Genesis 1:26 - 30 the diet was purely plant based and contained no consumption of animals. One writer say this. Before this time God had given man no permission to eat animal food; he intended that the race should subsist wholly upon the productions of the earth; but now that every green thing had been destroyed, he allowed them to eat the flesh of the clean beasts that had been preserved in the ark. (PP 107.3) For practical reasons God allowed humans to consume animals because no vegetation existed. This shows us that there are consequences of sin. Because of sin death was introduced into the world. Also before sin came into the world man never consumed animals after the fall and the flood we see God introducing animals into mankind's diet. Sin brought about this disharmony between mankind and animals. Read Genesis 7:1, 2; 8:20. How do these verses dispel the idea that the distinction between clean and unclean meats began with the Jewish nation? This passages shows us that Noah was instructed to bring seven of the clean animals and two of the unclean animals upon the ark. Because this distinction was made prior to the Jewish nation we know that it did not originate with them. Prayer: Father thank you for the provisions that you have made for us. Please help us to use the resources you have given us wisely. Help us to cease from sin and remove it from our lives before it's too late. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
Posted: 13 Jun 2010 07:08 AM PDT Sunday's Lesson - The Original Diet Read Genesis 1:26–30. What does it tell us about the original diet? What might it mean that both humanity and the animals had a similar diet? From this scriptures we see that the original diet was made up of fruits nuts and grains. Both humans and animals ate plants which suggests that they did not eat each other. The original diet that God intended was a plant based diet. Some people tend to make diet the central focus of their religion, the idea being the stricter the diet, the holier the person. At the same time, why is it important that we watch our diet and seek to eat as healthfully as we can? The things that we eat have the largest impact on our health and wellbeing. We must learn to control what we eat and what we do not eat. While some may take healthy living to the extreme many who have nothing to do with religion recognize the importance of eating healthfully. We must find a balance in all that we do, and not try to go to extremes in anything. Prayer: Father please teach us how to eat.Help us to know how to supply our bodies with only the things which promote health. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
