Wednesday's Lesson - Laughter and Healing

Read 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10. What is Paul saying here, and how can we apply this principle in our own lives, especially in times of distress?

In this passage we find that Paul was dealing with a very difficult situation. He sought the Lord three time to give him relief but there was no relief. The only response that God gave was that His grace is sufficient. As with Paul this is the message that we need to remember in every difficulty the Grace of God is sufficient.

Paul recognizes that in his weakness God's strength is more perfectly revealed. Likewise when we face times of distress and we have no where to turn we know that credit for victory will then belong to God alone. We must learn to glorify God in difficulties because He often is working on something wonderful.

So often attitude is something that you can control if you really want to, is it not? What is your general attitude? How can you learn to be more optimistic? How should focusing on the Cross and what it reveals about God help you have a more positive outlook on life?

Through the pages of scriptures we find examples of individuals facing difficult times and God helping them make it through. When we read the final analysis of the scriptures we find that God is the one who ultimately wins. Reflection on God's track record and understanding that God wins in the end should help us to be more optimistic.

In the midst of a trial it is often difficult to be optimistic , but we must not be troubled by the circumstances. We must focus on God rather than focusing on the problems. Much of the distress that we cause ourselves is as a result of what we choose to focus on, and not on the actual problem itself. Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith , we must make Him the central in our life , thoughts, and actions.

Prayer: Father it is challenging sometimes to be positive and optimistic , but help us to remember all that you have done for us , and what you have done for others. We know that you are mighty to save. Fill us with an everlasting hope, that withstands the waves of life. Thank you Father in Jesus name amen.
