Monday's Lesson Be Joyful Always

Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16, 17. How are the two admonitions related?

These two passages talk about a state of mind that we should be in. Life will often present us with difficulties and challenges, but we must rejoice always. In the same way we must remain prayerful. To pray without ceasing is not to constantly be on your knees. Praying without ceasing is keeping the communication channels open between us and God.

There are few things that contribute to our communication remaining open with God. One of those things is our desire to obey God. When we do not desire to obey God then it will difficult to understand and receive communication from him. James 4:7-8 gives us the principle for this Idea.

Another thing that contributes to keeping open communication are sins that we have in our lives. Willful sin causes a separation between us and God.

2But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. Isaiah 59:2

To be joyful and prayerful are two things we should practice as Christians.

What hope and optimism can you draw from these promises?

Rom. 8:31

If we have God on our side what powers on this earth can be against us?

Rom. 8:35–39 Notes

The love of God is so powerful, there is nothing that is too much for God to handle. The Love of God forms an inseparable bond between us and God.

1 John 3:1

To have God has our Father is an amazing privilege, He will take care us of because we are His children.

Rev. 21:4

No matter what trials and difficulties we have soon God will wipe away all our tears.

What other Bible promises can you cling to give you reasons to be optimistic and hopeful even amid trying circumstances? How have these texts helped you work through difficult situations?

Prayer: Father we thank you for the hope that you have given us. Help us to continue to trust in you. Help us to continue to look to you for our hope. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
