Sabbath School Lesson - Creating the Environment

Creating the Environment

Posted: 25 Apr 2010 11:25 AM PDT

Read Genesis 1 and Genesis 2:1–7. How did God's acts of Creation week prepare the way for the crowning act of Creation—man and woman? How did creation of humans differ from the rest of creation?

When we examine the way that God created the heavens and the earth
we see that there is a remarkable design. Each day of creation
builds upon that day that came before it. God makes a habitat for
animals and humans and then he creates the animals and humans.

When we look at the way that God created humans compared with
everything else we see something amazing. With everything else
we see that God spoke and it came into existence, but with man
He formed him with His hands and breathed life into the mans
nostrils. In the creation of man we see God taking a more intimate
role in contrast to the rest of his creation.

Read through the Genesis creation account again in Genesis 1 and 2. What do we find there that points us toward the idea that, as humans beings, we should be good stewards of the earth?

Gen 2:5 states such"..for the LORD God had not sent rain upon the
earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground." also In Gen
2:15 we are told specifically " Then the LORD God took the man and
put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it."

Also the passage talks about how the woman was given to Adam as a helper.
From this we understand that Adam was responsible to take care of their
environment and his wife was given to help him. Thus we see established the responsibility of all humanity to becoming good stewards of God creation.

Prayer: Father thank you for the beautiful creation that you have given
us. Please help us to become good stewards over the creation that you
have given. Help us not to do anything which will destroy our environment.
Thank you in Jesus name I pray amen.

I would like you to pray for me please.
