Sabbath School Lesson - Our God of Love |
Posted: 28 Mar 2010 04:58 AM PDT Read 2 Timothy 1:9. Dwell on the implications of the idea that God had prepared the plan of salvation even before the world began. What does it tell us about God's unconditional love for us that He would do this even before we existed? How does this text help us understand what grace is all about? God is truly amazing He has a love for us which is immeasurable. This immeasurable love for us can be seen in His plan for mans salvation. The scriptures reveal to us that the plan for the salvation of humanity is not an afterthought but a plan that was put in effect from the beginning of time. The bible declares to us the the Lamb of God was slain from the foundation of the world. (Rev 13:8) This is a passage which gives an allusion to the plan of salvation. This passage also reveals that the plan of salvation was something which proceeded the fall of man. 2 Timothy 1:9 lets us know also that we have been called to a holy calling , not according what what we have done but according to His purpose and grace. This is an eternal purpose as the passage declares it is something that proceeded , anything we have done and it is in despite of anything that we will do. The hope and the grace and the encouragement is in the fact that God has a plan to save us. His plan is one which is not an afterthought but a comprehensive, all powerful , gloriously beautiful unsearchable mystery that restores fallen humanity. God had a plan , and His plans are perfect and complete. How then are we to respond in the face of such love for us? Eph. 4:32; Eph. 5:2; Phil. 2:5-8; Col. 3:13. What is the basic message that all these texts have in common? These passages reveal to us that the love of God is something which should be contagious. Once we have been recipients of the love of God we should then become distribution centers of this same love. By being recipients of such a great love we must also be loving to others. God has forgive us all a great debt that we could never have paid. We do not deserve to be forgive, we deserved death but through Christ we have been give life. If we recognize how much it cost for our salvation, we will not harbor unforgiving and loveless personalities. We are to be imitators of God, we are to have the same mind that Christ had. We are to to be the light of the world and to show God's love to all because it was first given to us. Jesus loves me this I know because the bible tell me so. Little ones to him belong they are weak, but he is strong. Yes! Jesus love me, Yes Jesus Love me! Yes Jesus loves me! For the bible tells me so! To love unconditionally is an alien concept to the human heart. There is almost always an ulterior motive, one usually tainted with self. Yet, at the same time, if we had to wait until our motives were absolutely pure, we might not get anything done, would we? How much time should you spend, then, dwelling on the character of Christ? How could that help you learn to act more and more out of the kind of unconditional love that has been shown to us in Jesus? It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones.--The Desire of Ages, p. 83 (1898). Our time is consumed with so many things. We invest our time and energy in many things which are useless. But there is a an attractive beauty and symmetry in the character of Christ which we neglect to contemplate and imitate. By focusing the mind on Christ and what He has done for us it will change our lives and change our motives and change our hearts so that we can change the world! Jesus is what we need, Jesus wants us to spend time learning of Him through the scriptures and showing His love to others. We must behold Him, we must seek Him, we must trust Him. Jesus is our only help and our only hope our only strength won't you look to him today? Prayer: Father we thank you for your plan of salvation, we thank you for the precious blood of Jesus. We thank you for your everlasting love. Oh God! You alone are worthy, you alone are worthy! Transform us with your love, change our hearts so that we may we love as you have loved us. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
