What Love Does (1 Cor. 13:4-8) Posted: 08 Jan 2010 05:07 AM PST Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Look at each individual aspect of what love is and ask, How can I apply these principles in my own home?    Love is patient       Often times we find ourselves losing our patience in different    situations. To keep our patience we may need to pause take a    deep breath and ask God's help in whatever situation.       Does not envy       Often time we are envious because we are not content with what    God has given us. We must take time to reflect on the things    God has blessed us with and not the things we do not have.       Love is kind       This is something that must be practiced. We may have a way of    expressing ourselves which people perceive differently than    we do. We must ask for peoples input and , also look at the    example of Christ.       Does not boast       No one likes a person who boasts, we must ask for Gods humility    because all that we have is as a result of His blessing.       It is not rude       This one deals with how you treat people. This also relates to    kindness.       Not self-seeking       We should not seek to our only interests but the interests of    others.       Not easily angered       This is something which also goes with personality at times. But    if you develop the other characteristics such as patience it will    help with this aspect.       Rejoices with the truth       When I think of love , it does not revel in lies and deception    it rejoice in things which are true sincere and honest. This is    the things that love focuses on and meditates on.       Always protects       Love has a protective nature to it. I think of a mothers love it    is something which always seeks to protect the child and to    make sure that they are ok. Love has a deep concern for a    individuals well being and safety.       Not proud       This can be applied to your home by the types of interactions    that exist in the home. Sometimes arguments are started because    a person is to proud to admit they are wrong or ask for help    or forgiveness. But seeking the humility of Christ it will help    to show love in the home.       Always trusts       To always trust can bee seen in many ways in the relationship.    When you trust an individual you are confident in their ability.    Confidence in their ability is an act of love which lets them    know that you value who they are as a person.       Always hopes       In the home it is good to have a an attitude of hope. Hope is    something which will lighten the load of life's burdens. It    helps to to bring a peaceful atmosphere to the home.       Always perseveres       I see this is something which is similar to hope, perseverance    keeps moving forward. No matter how the things may appear love    continues to press on. In the home this is necessary to    deal with life ,and having this attitude is an asset to any    relationships       Love never fails       This is a powerful statement. If your home life is seasoned    with love that means that there can be no failure. I think in    loving there are returns which are guaranteed. Love has a power    which can change , and bring results. To love is the greatest    force in the universe!    Which characteristics of biblical love do you find the most difficult to implement in your own life? How can you make a concentrated effort through God's grace to cultivate more of this aspect of love? Why is it important that you do so?       When I look at this list of all of all the characteristics of love    I see in may ways how I am far from it. But it is really hard    for me to compare myself and say I have reached any standard    because it is always a process.       My desire is to continue to try and be more like Christ daily.    The goal for me is Christ. We can look at individual characteristics    and say I have achieved this but love is a total package.    Prayer: Father I pray that you will pour your love on us so that we may be able to show the qualities of love that you have shows to us. Please teach us to be loving.Thank you In Jesus name I pray amen |
