Sabbath School Lesson - Patience in the Gospel (2 Tim. 4:2) |
Patience in the Gospel (2 Tim. 4:2) Posted: 26 Jan 2010 04:18 AM PST Read Mark 4:26-29. What are some practical lessons about patience in the area of soul winning from this parable?     When we look at this parable we see a wonderful illustration of   how we should be when delivering the gospel. In this parable the   man casts seed on the soil, then he goes to sleep and wakes up   and finds that the seed has sprouted.     This man does not even know how the seed has grown but it has.   We never know who will be reached by the seeds of truth that we   plant in the hearts and minds of individuals, therefore we must   sow the seeds and let God worry about preparing the harvest     In this parable it also talks about the process involved in   the maturing of the plant. This process shows how a seed   comes to fully mature over time. As in the natural world   we wait for the seed to mature, we must wait in the spiritual   world as well.     The passage says that when the crop permits then the farmer   will harvest the crop. There is a right time to reap those   who have been implanted with seeds of the gospel truth.   We must have wisdom and patience to know when to reap God's   harvest.   What crucial point is found in 1 Samuel 16:7 that we should always keep in mind in this context (and in all contexts, really)?     In terms of those that we seek to reach with the Gospel we   must understand that we can not always determine who will   respond to the seeds of gospel truth. God has an insight   to people which we do not have.     When we see someone we may believe that they will not be   responsive to the gospel, but when God sees their heart   He sees something totally different. We must ask God to   give us His eyes that we may see how He sees, and to give   us His heart that we love as He loves   Prayer: Father we know that you gave the most valuable sacrifice for the saving of lost humanity ,and you desire each person on this earth to be saved. Father help us to be apart of your gospel work by engaging in it with love and patience. Teach us Father to see as you see. Thank you in Jesus name Amen. |
