Sabbath School Lesson - Further Study |
| Posted: 18 Dec 2009 09:55 AM PST How can one generation pass to the next generation its values, beliefs, and zeal? Or can it? Or look at it this way: Should one generation expect the next one to have the same kind of experiences and faith that it had? Discuss.    I believe there are a couple of ways that this can be done.    One good way to do this is through story telling. By the    telling of stories which recount important events it helps to    transfer values and beliefs.Another way that this can be done    is by modeling this beliefs ,values and traditions.    Built into the culture there must be some type of reward and    punishment for doing and not doing the values and beliefs. It    is difficult to transfer zeal , this is more of a personal matter.    But I believe that the other two are a little easier to work with    in terms of transferring them from one generation to the next.    I don't think that it is realistic to expect one generation to    have the same experiences as the next. But I do believe that they    can have the same quality. Though many things change there are    some things that will essentially be the same Dwell more on the question of what our role is in the church. First, what is the role of the church as a whole? How do we fit in with that role? Should we always be in a position of giving? When is it appropriate to take?    The purpose of the church is to nurture the body of believers    so that they my be able to be effective witnesses and soul winners.    In the process of becoming witnesses they are developed into    individuals prepared for the kingdom.    We must must understand that our spiritual gifts are and seek to    minister in the local church as these gifts dictate. And we must    also minster to others as those as those spiritual gifts dictate.    I believe that we must always be in a position of giving to others.    And we should ask for more in order that we may be able to give    more. Giving should be an essential part to the life of every    Christian. As we have studied the children of Israel on the move in the wilderness, what mistakes have they made that we are in danger of making, as well? What main lessons can we learn from what they have done? More important, what can we do to ensure that we don't fall into the same traps? Or if we already have, how can we get out of them?    There are many things that we can say here. But I believe the main    thing is that we need to remember what God has done for us in the    past. This is one thing that I believe is very important. When we    forget what God has done for us in the past then we are destined    to rehearse the mistakes of the past.    No matter what situation we may have found ourselves in our are    currently in it is never too difficult for God to resolve it. The    grace of God is able to rescue us from any circumstance that you    can imagine. We must simply look to the help that is offered us    through Jesus Christ. Prayer: Father thank you for all that you have done. Thank you for the lessons that we learned this week. Father please help us to be ready when you come again. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
