Sabbath School Lesson - A Fearful and Deluded King

A Fearful and Deluded King

Read Numbers 22:1–6. What was it about the Israelites that especially made the king fearful?

Balak realized that the children of Israel were very large in number.
Because the were large in number he thought that the would consume
all the the natural resources wherever they went. Therefore he planned
to do something to prevent them from consuming all the resources
   of his country.

In reality, if Israel had been a threat, what should Balak really have been afraid of? See Gen. 48:21, Exod. 15:1, Deut. 1:30, 20:4.

These texts reveal to us that God is the one who fights for Israel.
God is the one who gives them victory over all of their enemies.
So while it is true that they may consume the resources of the land
an even greater concern is that God fights their battles for them.
   Who can fight against God?

Ask yourself how much you really seek to depend upon God, and how much you trust in yourself, your money, your job, your talents, whatever. How can you learn to get your eyes off these things and on the Lord? Why is that naturally hard to do? See 1 Cor. 2:14

It is a daily process we must submit to God each day and ask his grace
to help up in our times of need. The more faith experiences that we
have with God the more we are able to trust Him with each new trial

Prayer: Father please help us to trust in you. Fill our hearts with overflowing evidences of your faithfulness. Lord please let us not forget all that you have done for us. May all things be surrendered to you that you may be King of Kings and Lord of Lords in our lives. Thank you Father in Jesus name amen.
