Sabbath School Lesson - Balaam |
Posted: 30 Nov 2009 05:32 AM PST Read Numbers 22:7–21. On the surface, it looks as if Balaam is standing firm for the Lord. However, if you read carefully, what hints can you find of his playing with temptation?       Balam already knew the answer to his prayer but he continued to    pray again. God gave him and answer but he refused to listen to    the answer. Balam asked for another answer on top of the answer    that God had already given.       Balam in his heart wanted to do something different so he    continued to linger with his decisions.    Read 2 Peter 2:14–16. How did Peter view the actions of Balaam? What warning is there for us regarding covetousness and temptation? Why is it so easy to rationalize away our sin to the point that it doesn't seem sinful?       Balam had a love for the wadges of wickedness as peter states.    We must seek to be obedient to God in all things or we may find    ourselves in a situation like balaam.    Prayer: Father help us to be men and women who can not be bought or sold. Teach us fidelity no matter what the cost. Thank you Father in Jesus name I pray amen. |
