Why, in this context, is pride and self-sufficiency so sinful?       When we look at What God has done for us in return He asks for our    best. But we ask the question is our best too much to give? The    answer is now. We should give our best to God because He first    gave His best for us.       Our deliverance is as a result of His mighty hand upon us. We would    not even have a first born to offer to Him had not His grace    made provision for our existence.    What were the extra Israelites to do for their redemption? To whom was it given? Num. 3:46-51.       They were to bring a redemption offering to cover the cost of    those who were not represented by the levites.    In what ways can you see the Cross, the substitutionary death of Jesus (John 3:16), prefigured in these substitutionary rituals? What does it mean that Jesus substituted Himself for you? How should knowledge of this reality change your life?       When we see how God required the levites to give their first born it    points to when Christ would give His only son for us.    Prayer: Father thank you for not withholding heavens greatest give. Thank you for your redemption and your deliverance which is found in Jesus. In Jesus name amen. |
