Sabbath School Lesson

Under the Standards

Read Numbers 2. Talk about organized religion! What is one thing that becomes apparent about how the Israelites were supposed to live?

When we read these passages we find that each tribe is placed
in a specific location. We understand from this passage that
everything has a place everything has a proper order.

Also from this passage we understand that these orders are
based upon the family clans. An in each of those clans there
is a number of men who are able to go to war.

From this passage we have to understand that God is a God
of order and that He does things in a very precise way.

Read Numbers 2:34. What does this tell us about how, despite the clear organizational pattern, the Lord left room for the distinctness and uniqueness of the various tribes? What lessons can we draw from that for ourselves?

The phrase that is key in this part that says that they camped
by their standards. God had given them a specific organizational
structure but he allowed them to figure out how to specifically
   implement that structure.

God did not tell them exactly how to pitch their tent and how to do
the specifics but He allowed a degree of freedom as it was
   related to the specific families.

Why is it so important for the church today to be organized, as well? What happens when folks are left to do their own thing? Why is that so often a recipe for chaos and deception? How has belonging to an organized body helped you in your spiritual walk?

Organization is essential because it provides order and structure.
Without proper organization it allows each man to do what is right
   in their own eyes.

Organization also provides a checks and balances system that protects.

Prayer: Father I pray that you may help us to be more organized when it comes to you work. Help us to learn for the biblical examples that you have given us. Thank you Father in Jesus name I pray amen.
