| Leadership Crisis in the Early Church Posted: 24 Sep 2009 02:51 AM PDT What can we learn from the following texts about how the church is to be governed? Mark 10:42-44; Acts 6:1-7; 15:6, 22-25; 1 Tim. 4:14; James 5:14.       Mark 10:42-44;       Here Jesus gives us a contrast to secular leadership and christian    leadership. Unlike the world in order to be great we must become    the least, we must become the servant of all. The greatest leader    in the eyes of God is the greatest servant. Amen       Acts 6:1-7; 15:6, 22-25       When I read this passage I was struck with the fact that it says    "Stephen was full of the Spirit" wow! Today God is searching over    the earth to find leaders who are filled with His Spirit. When the    church is faced with conflict they don't need ingenious plans but    they need men who have be possessed by the Holy Spirit.       1 Tim. 4:14       The leaders had compassion for those whom they were leading.       James 5:14.       Here in this passage we see that the leaders had the function of    interceding on behalf of the people. The leadership did not just    swing around their swords of power , but the ministered to the    spiritual needs , they prayed an called upon the name of the    Lord on behalf of His people.       True leadership is not measured by your title or position, but by your    capacity for unselfish service.    Prayer:Of Father in heaven, please hear us today! We need you to stir up your Spirit in your leaders of this earth. Oh Father sanctify your people with your word, and unite us with holy endeavor to be your hands on this earth. Teach us to serve, teach us to love. God we ask these things that you may be glorified. Thank you in Jesus name Amen. |
