Having Confidence

Posted: 30 Aug 2009 06:16 AM PDT

According to the following texts, what can we be confident about?

   1 John 5:13

This is a promise to all those who believe in the name of the Son of
God. The promise here is that those who believe have eternal life.
The fact that our belief in the Son of God is something that gives
us eternal life is something that we can be confident about. In
a world filled with death , darkness , and despair our confidence
can rest in the fact that God has promised us another life ,of
joy and peace which lasts eternally. Glory to God!

   1 John 5:15

This is a passage which is talking about prayer and gives us a
confidence that God not only hears our prayers but answers. When
you think of the infinite God who listens to our requests this
is amazing , but even more amazing is his desire to grant those
requests. Let us not forsake the privilege of prayer , to
   commune with our heavenly Father.

   1 John 5:18

This promise is so exciting it literally made me scream! God
has the power to keep us from the tampering and the distribution
of the Devil. Those who are Gods children need not worry because
the bible declares no weapon formed against you shall prosper.

   1 John 5:19

This promise helps us to see where we are as the children of God
we are God's possessions. Even though the world is in the power
of the enemy we are under the power of God almighty. We have
confidence because we know that our Father will take care of
us in this cruel and wicked generation.

   1 John 5:20

This is very good this passage lets us know that the Son of God
has come to grant unto us understanding. Not only will he grant us
understanding but we can abide in the one who is true and has
   all understanding Jesus Christ.

How many times have you disappointed yourself in the last month, week, or even day? We would say, "Keep a record of those disappointments," but that might be too discouraging. How does the reality of your own foibles bring home the need to make sure that your confidence rests in Jesus and not in yourself?

Most assuredly is makes me realize that I need help. Often times
pride comes into many thing that we put our hands to , even our
religion. The clearer picture you have of yourself the more you
recognize that you need help. When we behold the beautiful character
of Christ we begin to see our true deficiency. When we understand
our need to remove our confidence from ourselves to to risen
   Lord.

Prayer: Father there are many things that seek to disturb our confidence in you.
Today we grasp tightly with all of our strength to hold onto the promises of
God, we will not let go! God today grant us your confidence so that we may
trust you fully. Thank you in Jesus name I pray amen.
