Posted: 26 Aug 2009 03:11 AM PDT John has powerful statements about the divinity of Jesus. What does he teach about Jesus Christ in the following texts?    John 1:1-3, 14       This passage teaches us the the Word existed with God from the very    beginning. It teaches the Word is God and that the word created    the world.       John 8:58, 59       When we read this passage we are to understand the Jesus was in    existence before Abraham. This passage points to the divinity    of Christ because of this statement. Also the words I am ,    in this passage is a phrase of divinity.       John 10:30, 31       This is a very simple and plain statement that asserts the    divinity of Christ.       John 20:28       Here Thomas makes the statement that Jesus is His Lord and God       1 John 2:23       This passage shows the interconnectedness between that Father and    the Son.       1 John 5:20       This passage talks about how Jesus has come so that we may be in    Him. The passage also lets us know that Jesus is the true God    and eternal life. Keeping in mind the divinity of Jesus, go back over the final scenes of His life, right up through the Cross. As you do, remember that this person was also God the Creator. Dwell on the implications of these truths. Why should this reality change our lives?       During the scenes before and leading up to the cross Jesus is    treated like a criminal. The insults and the abuse He suffered    is Amazing in light of the fact that He is the creator of the    universe.       As the creator of the universe how could he subject himself to    such treatment. This opens up to me the extent of the love that    Jesus has for us. He is willing to suffer at the hands of His    creation in order to save that creation.       Jesus condecended so that we may be exalted. He was exalted    high on the Cross so that we may no be plunged deep into the    eternal death. Christ our Lord and Savior, what and amazing    love. Prayer: Father thank your for your love which you have shown toward us. Please help us to better understand who you are and to believe on you. Wash us in the blood of the lamb. Thank you Father in Jesus name I pray amen. |
