Jesus and the Testimony of God Posted: 25 Aug 2009 04:50 AM PDT What is John saying to us in 1 John 5:9, 10? What does He want us to believe?       John is making a very salient point in this passage he wants    us to understand. The fact that we receive the testimony of    men, should give us more reason to receive the testimony of    God.       At the baptism of Jesus we see that the Holy Spirit and the    Father testified concerning who Jesus was. Therefore John wants    us to believe that Jesus is the messiah , that He is the    God's son. What are all the reasons you have for believing in God, in Jesus, in the hope that the Adventist message presents to us? Go back over those reasons, write them down, pray over them, and bring them to class to share with others.       When I think of this question I come to understand that there are    several things which contribute to me why I believe. The first thing    is Faith, I have faith that God exists that is why I believe in Him    I would say the next thing is the scriptures, I base my understanding    of God and Christianity on what has been revealed in the scriptures       The next important thing to me is my personal experience. I have    certain experience with God which help me believe in Him and trust    Him. My relationship with God is based upon the love that He has    shown for me and I in return give me all back to God.    Prayer: Father thank you for the testimony that you have given concerning Jesus. Help us to receive your testimony with a greater degree than we receive the testimony of men. Thank you in Jesus name I pray amen. |
