Posted: 09 Jul 2009 06:33 AM PDT According to 1 John 1:3, what are the dimensions of this fellowship?    When we examine this passage it has several dimensions of    fellowship. The first dimension that we see in the passage    is the dimension that is with the disciples. The Word    of life will bring us into fellowship with one another.    In addition to this level of fellowship through the Word    of life we are also brought into fellowship with the Holy    trinity. The Word of life brings us in contact with the    Father ,Son ,and the Holy Spirit. How is this Christian fellowship in its ideal form portrayed in the New Testament? See Acts 2:42-47, Rom. 12:3-17.    Acts 2:42-47    This passage talks about several things concerning the early    christian community. When I contemplate them it is quite r   emarkable and I wonder can we reach back to this place.    In this community the church followed in the teaching of    the Apostles, and they broke bread together and they prayed    together. This passage also talks about how they had all    things common. This truly is the ideal community. This is    what we are working back towards.    Rom. 12:3-17    This passage gives a beautiful picture of the way the    Christian community should be. It talks mostly about the    mindset and the attitude that the believers should have    toward each other. A short summary is simply to love others    as Jesus did. Paul gives a very good description that will    help us see more specifically how God's love should be    manifested practically. What has been your own experience regarding Christian fellowship? What can you do differently? How can you better enjoy, and help others enjoy, the community of fellowship that's our privilege as Christians to have?    I believe that one way that we are brought into fellowship    is through the needs of the community. If we are wiling    to spend ourselves on behalf of others I believe that we    we be brought into greater fellowship with on another.    The blessings that we give to others in helping them will    be blessings distributed back to us. Prayer: Father thank you for all that you have done. I pray the through the word of life you will increase our level of fellowship with you and with one another. I pray God that you will remove every hindrance to this fellowship. Thank you Father in the name of Jesus I pray amen. |
