Posted: 10 Jun 2009 06:23 AM PDT Read the following texts: Lev. 27:30, Deut. 8:18, Ps. 50:12, Mal. 3:8-10,Matt. 6:31, Matt. 23:23. What lessons do you draw from them? Compare your answers with what follows below:    Lev. 27:30    This helps us to understand that the tithe is something that belongs to    God. When we return tithe we are giving to God simply what His. When    we do not return tithe then we are literally robbing God.    Deut. 8:18    This passage helps us remember that it is God who give us the power to    create wealth. If we forget this fact then we may believe that it is    we ourselves who made ourselves wealthy. This also is important when    we think about how we spend that wealth.    Ps. 50:12,    This scripture explains to us how God owns everything. There is nothing    that He is not responsible for. When we think that the things that we    have our ours we must understand that these thing are only entrusted    to us for His use.    Mal. 3:8-10,    When we do not return tithe and offer we are robbing from God and we    are missing out on the blessing that He has for us. But not returning    the tithe we believe that we may be better off but it actually causes    us to be under the curse of God.    Matt. 6:31,    The scriptures lets us know that we should not worry about the things    that we eat or the things that we wear. This helps us to understand    that God is the one who takes care of us. As we understand that God    takes care of us we must honor him in the things that he provides    for us.    Matt. 23:23    Though we be very precise with our tithing and honoring God with our    possessions we must still be loving. No amount of horning God with our    possession can be acceptable it we don't honor God with our lives. There's an old English saying, "Let him put his money where his mouth is." The idea is that people can talk about how much they believe in something, but unless they are willing to put some of their money into it, the talk is meaningless. How does the act of giving tithes and offerings reveal where our heart really is? What does your giving reveal about your faith?    Our giving reveals if we trust in God or not or if we trust    in ourselves. When we put our money into something we are are    saying we believe in that things and we trust in that thing.    God has the best investment portfolio anyone can ask for.    We just need to trust God that He will do what He says that    He will do. Prayer: Father thank your for all that you have blessed us with. Please help us to be more faithful in the handling of the things that you have entrusted to us. Forgive us where we have not been faithful. Thank you in Jesus name I pray amen. |
