The Human Condition - All Have Sinned

Read Romans 3:23. Why is this message so easy for us, as Christians, to believe today? At the same time, what could cause some people to question the truthfulness of this text?

The fact that all have sinned is something which is easy to understand because we see , and hear about the sins of others everyday. When we read the news we hear about political figures sinning or behaving dishonestly. When we see movies and listen to music we can understand that people have sinned. There are whole business models which capitalize on the sins of people.

At the same we may question the truthfulness of this text when we see people who appear perfect. It would be difficult to think of some of our great leaders and role models as people who have sinned. The reality is that every person on this planet has sinned before and fallen short of Gods glory.

Read Romans 3:10–18. Has anything changed today? Which of those depictions best describes you, or what you would be like were it not for Christ in your life?

Nothing much has changed when we read this scripture in the context of today's world. Like then we must understand that there is no one who can commend themselves to God for anything.
When we look at this passage it puts everyone on the same grounds. When we are on the same grounds we understand that we have a need for the savior. The great equalizer of all humanity is the sin problem.

When was the last time you took a good hard cold look at yourself, your motives, your deeds, and your feelings? This can be a very distressing experience, can't it? What's your only hope?

This is something which we should do each day. We must examine ourselves in the light of the scriptures and ask God to help us where we fall short. This can be a very distressing experience especially when we try it on our own. We can thank God that He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us, He has given us all the help we need in Jesus.

Prayer: Father the fact is that we need you. We all have all sinned and fallen short of your glory. Help us to understand out condition so that we my look to you for our cure. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
