Sabbath School Lesson - Grace or Debt |
Posted: 27 Jul 2010 05:22 AM PDT ![]() Read Romans 4:6–8. How does Paul here expand on the theme of justification by faith? Here Paul is quoting David in regards to His reflection of how God dealt with Him personally. David says that there is a blessing for the person whose lawless deeds have been covered. In the case with David he sinned sinned against God repented and God forgave Him. Paul says that there is a blessing for this person whom the Lord will not count his sins against him. Paul speaks of it as God giving the person credit for His righteousnesses. In this passage a transaction between God and the believer happens. When we give God our sins and we accept what Christ did for us we are given Christ's righteousnesses in return. Considering the universality of the Cross, considering what the Cross tells us about the worth of every human being, why is racial or ethnic or national prejudice such a horrible thing? How can we learn to recognize the existence of prejudice in ourselves and through God's grace purge it from our minds We have prejudices which we are entirely unaware of and it will take personal reflection and examination to understand this. We must examine our lives in the light of the life of Christ. As we seek to follow the example of Christ he will show us areas where we need to change. Prayer: Father we thank you for the life of Christ. Help us to continue to look unto you the author and finisher of our faith. Transform us into the people you want us to be. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
