Tuesday's Lesson - From the First to the Twenty-first Century

Read Romans 1:22–32. In what ways do we see the things written there, in the first century, being manifested today in the twenty-first century?

We serve a loving God and He will never force us to do anything against our will. When we continually refuse to follow after God , He allows us to receive the natural consequences of our actions. This passage illustrates the depravity in which humanity can sink when seeking to exist without God.

As we look around the world we see many people who have reached this state of depravity. That which some deem as natural is not natural but the consequences of those who continually refuse God's will. We must all turn back to God and seek to give Him the proper place in our lives.

Focus specifically on Romans 1:22, 23. How do we see this principle being manifested now? By rejecting God, what have humans in our century come to worship and idolize instead? And, in so doing, how have they become fools? Bring your answer to class on Sabbath

This scripture talks about those who are professing to be wise. There are many people who have the profession of wisdom yet they are lacking in the true wisdom that is from God. Also this wisdom that they have accumulated is the very thing which is keeping them from God.

As this passage says people have turned from the creator to things which have been created. People no longer worship the creator but they worship the creation. This can be seen directly and indirectly in many ways. When we put ourselves and our things before God we are worshiping the creation.

This is the essence of the idolatry that is talked about in this passage. Any time we turn away from God to other things we are making our God out to be those things which we have turned to. We must ask God to help to remove those things from our lives that compete with our allegiance to Him. God loves us enough no to leave us where we are but He continually seeks after us.

Prayer: Fater please help us to remember that you are are the creator. Help us to put you first in all that we do. You alone are worthy to be praised. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
