Read Numbers 27:12–23 and answer the following questions:

* In Numbers 27:12 the Lord talks about the land that He has "given" (in the past tense) to the children of Israel, even though they were not there yet. What does that tell us about God's promises?

When God promises something we can be assured that it will come
to past. The scriptures declare that God' word does not return
to Him void. The scriptures state that faith is the substance of
things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

By placing faith in what God has said in His word those thing which
are not are as tho they were. This is all made possible by faith
in the words of God. In addition to faith we must walk talk and act
as if we have received the object of our faith.

By this statement I mean that we must have appropriate actions in
line with our faith. Our actions and not our talk about our faith
actually revels the true nature of our faith. Faith must always
   be accompanied by works.

* After the Lord told Moses again that he could not cross into this land because of his sin, how does Moses respond? That is, what is Moses' main concern? What does that tell us about the kind of man he was?

This is very powerful observation about Moses. Moses reveals his
true character, which is one of compassion and love. He is not
concerned with the fact that he is not going to cross over but
he is concerned about the welfare of the people.

This let us know that Moses is very selfless and he has a deep
concern for the children of Israel. Even though he will not be there
he wants to assure that they will have a leader which will lead
them, and assure their well being

* Why was it important that Joshua be given his charge before all the congregation?

The people need to know that he is someone who is appointed by God.
Also they need to see the transference of power from Moses to
Joshua. Because of the history of the rebels in Israel they need
to know that Joshua is appointed by God and not a self appointed
   rebel.

How often do you seek the Lord in prayer regarding important decisions you need to make? Upon what basis do you make your decisions, if not through seeking God's will?

I believe that we must seek the Lords wisdom in all situations.
It is through prayer that we have access to the wisdom of the universe.
To me it seems like and obvious choice. Why not go to the person who
can help you you most when trying to make decisions.

As you develop relationship with God and you begin to understand
His principles of operation then His will becomes clear. Often
times its not necessary to deliberate much about some things
because he has already clearly given direction in His word.

Prayer: Father we thank you for your word, help us to place our faith in your word, and act in faith upon this word. Let us not forsake your wisdom to guide us in this life ,may utilize the help you offer. Thank you Father in Jesus name amen.

Land Division

What was one of the reasons that the census was taken? Why would this be important? Num. 26:52–56.

Here from this passage we understand that the census was to be taken
in order to assign more land to tribes with larger numbers. The
tribes who had larger numbers would receive a larger inheritance and the
tribes which were smaller numbers would receive a smaller inheritance.

Read Numbers 27:1–11. What important principles do we see being made manifest here?

From looking at this passage we can understand that God is a God who
is just in His judgments toward His children. God here is giving the
children an opportunity where the parents failed. This revels the
love and compassion of our God.

It's always so easy to let things like possessions dominate us so that we forget even the most basic Christian principles. How can we protect ourselves from allowing our desire for things to ruin our relationship with God and with others?

We must must never loose site of the most important things in life.
People are always more important than things. Things are made by
and for people and not the other way around. When we are unbalanced
in this principle we move toward greed and exploitation of people
for things. Our relationship with Christ and our commitment to model
our life after His is what helps us maintain this balance.

Prayer: Father we thank you for all that you have done. I pray that you will give us a divine contentment with such things as we have. May we not put things over people. Grant us grace this new week as we experience it with you. Thank you in Jesus name Amen.
