Sacrificial System Reaffirmed

Read Romans 5. What does that tell us about the fullness and completeness of Christ's sacrifice for us?

The passage has a number of good points which enumerate to
us the completeness of the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf.

5:1 Talks about how Christ helped us at the point where we
were helpless. His sacrifice is complete in this since because
it is given regardless of our personal merit but, simply and
extension of His infinite grace and mercy.

5:9 Declares that we have been justified by His blood. This
means that we a receive credit for the life that He
lived as if we lived that life. The sacrifice of Christ once
accepted makes us righteous as He is righteous.

5:18 This talks about the ability of the sacrifice of Christ
to save all humanity. Jesus is the second Adam and Just as
sin entered the world through one man so also with one man
it will be removed. The sacrifice of Christ provides us with
with a complete redemption for the presence, punishment, and
   penalty of sin.

Why is it so important to trust only in Christ's merits and righteousness, as opposed to anything in ourselves, as the only means of salvation? What happens if we start looking to ourselves, as if somehow we could be good enough to deserve or earn our salvation?

The reality is that we are not good enough to save ourselves. If this
were true Christ would not have had to die for our sins. And to trust
in our own works as a means of salvation is a type of idolatry which
a violation of one of the commandments.

When we loose site of our need of a savior it skews how we treat
people. The day that we realize we are perfect our compassion and
toleration for others is gone. But in the attitudes that we reveal
to those who "Just can't get it right" reveals that we don't don't
have it right either. We must continue look to Jesus the author
and the finisher of our faith.

Prayer:Father you alone are holy, you alone are righteous. Thank you for the sacrifice of Jesus. Take our sinful nature and replace it with your beautiful likeness.Father we need a complete and total transformation. Take us today and make us new. May we ever only trust in the merits of Your precious Son. Father may we decrease that You may increase,be glorified in our lives.Thank you in Jesus name amen.
