Sabbath School Lesson - Keeping Your Word

Keeping Your Word

Posted: 16 Dec 2009 09:37 AM PST

Read Numbers 30 regarding vows and oaths. What important principle can we take away from this chapter for ourselves today? What does this tell us about the importance of our words? What warnings should we take away from here, too?

From this chapter we see the importance of keeping your word. It is
necesary to be the type of person who does what you say , and
   say what you do.

This passage also takes about the necessity of keeping the things
which we obligate ourselves to. Often times we may find ourselves
in difficult situations becuase of the things which we have obligated
   ourselves to.

From the princple in this chapter it may help us to think more
closely about the things which we commit ourselves to. I
belive the halmart of and individual is thier trustworthiness.
Does this person keep thier word do then meet thier obligations.

How many times have you made vows and promises to others, to God, or to yourself that you have broken? What can you learn from these experiences? What promises can you claim that will help prevent this from happening continually?

Yes we have all made promises that we have broken. Often times
we get excited and make rash promises that we can not realistically
keep. We must ask for God's grace to rest upon our lips least
cause ourselves to enter into sin. Also we must give ourselves
some time to think before we commit ourselves to obligations.
I belive it is better to say no than to say yes and then be
   unalbe to fulfill your obligation.

Prayer: Father forgive us where we have sinned with our lips. I pray that you will give us wisdom to undertand what obligations and vows that we can not commit to. Grant us your grace and power to improve in this area. Thank you in Jesus name amen.
