See 1 Pet. 2:9, Rev. 14:6–12.       The promise of the priesthood of God's people according to this    passage is found in their obedience to His voice and His covenant.    As we take hold of the grace of God and receive the righteousness    of Jesus Christ we are empowered to be obedient.       As a Church we believe in the keeping of all of God's commandments    and because of this it distinguishes from other Churches. But with    this distinction comes a responsibility.       God wants each believer today to be a priest, someone who intercedes    before God on behalf of humanity. God' church should be marked by    individuals who's hearts are full of compassion for a dying world.       The role of our priesthood is contingent upon our obedience to God.    We do not receive this role by default but we fulfill it as we    yield ourselves to be molded and fashioned more perfectly into    the image of God.    Read Numbers 18:1–7. What distinctions were made in the roles given these men?       We are told that the tribe of Levi and all of Aarons brother were to    attend them when they offered sacrifices but they were not    to come near the furnishings of the sanctuary. In addition to the    distinction made among the Levites no outsider was allowed to    come among the Levites.       Now the passage also lets us know that there are those who were    set aside from the house of Aaron who would be priests and who    could approach the furnishings of the sanctuary.       An interesting point to note is that Aarons brothers were a gift    to him to assist him in the ministry of the tabernacle (Lev 18:7)    What are your gifts, and how could you better use them to serve your local church?       God has given us many gifts I pray that He will help us to realize    exactly how we can link these gifts up to the service of the local    church.    Prayer: Father we humbly submit ourselves to you. God we have failed in being your priests to the world. We have not taken the role seriously which you have given to us. God make us a nation of priests, makes us holy and blameless in your site. Father please fill our hearts with love and compassion for all people. We ask for your divine grace and mercy to answer this prayer. Thank you Father in Jesus name amen. |
