Sabbath School Lesson

Between the Living and the Dead

Posted: 11 Nov 2009 04:28 AM PST

Read Numbers 16:41–50. What should this tell us about fallen human nature? How did their accusation reflect the same accusation that Korah and the others had just made?

Here we can see that the people blamed Moses for the death of the
Korah and the other rebels. What actually happened was that God's
wrath was kindled against them because of their attitude toward
   Moses and Aaron.

In this very act of making this accusation they were doing the
same thing that got Korah and the other men killed. This shows me
that we as humans really need the help of a savior. We really
need to be transformed from the inside out.

Though they saw the earth open up they still could not see what
the main cause behind the actions of God. It is sad but at the
same time it is a commentary on the human condition and the
most eloquent argument for our desperate need of a savior.

Read Numbers 16:48. What does the idea of Aaron standing between the living and the dead mean? How do we, in this scene, get a glimpse of what Jesus has done for us?

When we think of this we must understand that we all are being
consumed by the plague of sin. The plague of sin if unchecked
will consume us all and ultimately result in our death and
downfall. When Jesus lived the perfect life and died the perfect
death, and rose from the grave, he checked the plague.

Jesus stopped the plague and he gave us the opportunity to
receive His righteousness ,and to allow the Holy spirit to
work on our rebellious hearts. Jesus offers a complete
transformation to ensure that we will never want to rebel
   again.

Are you among the living? Justify your answer.

I would say yes and no. I am alive because I have accepted Jesus
Christ as my personal savior. At the same time I would say I
am dead because I am dying to self and to sin.

Prayer: Father Please forgive us for our rebellious hearts. Help us to choose your to stand in the gap for us. Thank you Father in Jesus name I pray Amen
