As you read, think, for example, about such things as obedience, grace, redemption, faith, and judgment       The passover marked the beginning of months for them (12:1)       This was significant because their deliverance marked the    the beginning of their calender year. Their deliverance from    Egypt was the start of a new phase in their lives. Each person    who accepts the blood of Jesus for the atonement of their sins    starts new. They can forget their old lives and begin to    measure their years from the point of their deliverance.       Each household was to bring a sacrifice and if they could not    afford it they were to join in with their neighbor. (12:3)       I saw community in this passage. One household helped out another    household so that they might be saved. We too should look out    for the salvation of our neighbors. We must provide an opportunity    for those who can not afford the sacrifice to be saved. There are    those who are weak and need the help of their neighbor to make it    spiritually. We must be that help in their times of need.       They were to put the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of their    homes (12:7)       We must cover our homes and we must cover our lives in the blood    of Jesus.       The Lord was to bring Judgment on Israel and all whos homes    were not covered with the blood would be destroyed.(12:12-13)       Those who were not covered in the blood would be destroyed in the    judgment. Though this is a sad scene it lets us now that we can    find safety from the Judgment when covered by the blood of Jesus.    How are the followers of Jesus to commemorate the Passover today? Luke 22:15, 19, 20. What is this service to remind us of?       We commemorate the passover today with the Lords supper. Having    this background imagery of the passover makes communion more    meaningful. We must keep in mind what Christ did for the deliverance    of Israel and our deliverance as we celebrate each communion.    Prayer: Father please cover us with your blood, cover our lives cover our families.Protect us from the death of sin, and its poisonous influence. We desire that our neighbors be saved, bind us all together with your love. Thank you for what you have done for us in your death, may we commemorate your death with each communion and with each day given for your glory. Thank you in Jesus name amen. |
