Matt. 28:19.       When we look at this prayer we notice that the prayer has been given    in three parts. The three parts of this prayer can b    also express the tree parts of the Godhead. The disciples    were asked to baptize in the name of the Father Son and the    Hold Spirit. This threefold blessing in a sense parallels the    threefold authority of the great commission.       How does this prayer reveal Israel's total dependence upon God? John 15:5.       This passage talks about the Lord blessing His people and the Lord    keeping His people. Just as John states that Jesus is the vine and    we are the branches so in the same sense we can have no blessing    unless God blesses us.       We are are entirely dependent upon God for any blessing that we    receive because all blessing come from from Him. In praying this prayer    we are acknowledging that God is the our source of blessings and    peace.       What significance is there to the fact that the priests themselves were the ones to pray this prayer in behalf of the people? Heb. 7:25.       I believe that this prayer reveals how we as Gods people are to be    intercessors for humanity. Just as Aaron interceded and prayed    these gracious words upon the Israelites we too must prayer these    words.       We must not let our actions show that we do not want this blessing    upon humanity. It is very difficult to intercede with sincerity and    continue to live life which tears down people.    How have you experienced the blessings listed above in your own life? What things might you be doing that are making it difficult to see these things realized in your walk with God? What changes, no matter how painful, must you make?       The blessing that is invoked by this prayer is a tremendous one.    I believe that one thing that hinders this prayer is the the    fact that we don't live this prayer on behalf of other.       How can we receive this prayer when we constantly destroy    one another. As God intercedes for us and seeks our ultimate    good how can we fight with each other.       I believe the biggest barrier to this prayer is not wanting to    first be this prayer.    Prayer: Father we thank for your three fold blessing. Father we thank you may your face shine upon us. Father be gracious unto us , I pray you peace may rest upon us. Father let these words rest deep withing our souls, Father may we live these words as we pray these words for others. In Jesus name amen. |
