A Better Way to Live for Friday, September 18, 2009

Summary: The story of Nebuchadnezzar is one of the most hopeful ones in the Bible. It shows us that nobody is beyond the grasp of God's desire to restore us to the relationship we used to have with Him. Babylon is also a key element in Nebuchadnezzar's story, and it's one of two cities mentioned throughout the Bible—both of which hold historical as well as spiritual significance.

Verse: And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: for His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, "What have You done?"
—Daniel 4:34-35

MARY JONES AND HER BIBLE
The Bible has outlived all of its critics, survived centuries of prohibition and changed countless lives for the better. It has a power that no other book has. It has made thieves honest, cheaters faithful, and drunkards sober. No wonder it continues to be the top bestseller of all time. Chances are that you have a copy in your home, and you just might have a young girl who lived more than 200 years ago to thank for it.
