| Communicating With One Another (2 John 12, 13) Posted: 17 Sep 2009 03:41 AM PDT Look at what John has written in 2 John 12, 13. What advantages are there to speaking face to face, as opposed to a written letter? What hint can you find from his expression "that our joy may be full" as to why he wanted to meet with them? See also Acts 2:42-47.       When I read the passage from acts I was impressed with the fellowship    they the early church possessed. I can imagine the love that was    expressed on to another in that community. Coming together in such    a way brought encouragement and stability to any group of believers.          The passage in acts talks about how the people kept feeling a    sense of awe. I would love to come and fellowship with a group of    people where this type of atmosphere is present. I believe this is    why it was better that they speak face to face than by letter.    This would bring joy to my heart as well.    Why is face-to-face contact often so important for developing good relationships? What are the advantages of this kind of personal contact? What kind of example of personal contact did Jesus leave us? How can you improve your face-to-face dealings with others?       The thing to remember is that when you talk with someone face to face    you have the ability to engage the entire senses in the conversation.    We communicate with our entire bodies , not just with our words. When    communicating we must take these other forms of non-verbal communication    in order get get the full picture.       One things that helps to improve face to face communication is to listen.    When you listen to people it helps you to really understand where they    are. When you understand where they are then you will know how to    respond. Some people are looking for you to listen to them , when you    have done this then you will be ready to communicate.    Prayer: Father God we thank you for the opportunity to have fellowship with you. I pray that you will improve our relationships with one another ,and that you will help us to develop authentic community. Thank you Father. In Jesus name I pray amen. |
