| Posted: 13 Aug 2009 05:28 AM PDT How can 1 John 3:6, 8, 9 be reconciled with 1 John 1:6- 2:1, 2?    As I looked at these passages I realized that how puzzling that    these who ideas can be. I will attempt to explain this in a    story.       I remember when I was learning to play the Guitar I did not    know how to hold the guitar properly so I put my hands on    the guitar and began to play the way that was most comfortable.       Later I took guitar lessons and I found out the my technique    was wrong. So because I had practiced doing something the    wrong way I had to practice the proper technique. As I was    practicing proper technique I did not have it perfect but as    I practiced it I got better.       In this story I want to bring out a point, there is a difference    in the person who practices the wrong technique and a person    who messes up while practicing the right technique.       This is the difference that I see in these two passages. Those    who are God's children practice righetousness or right doing. Those    who are not of God practice wrong doing. Though you are practicing    to do the right thing , just as playing the guitar sometimes your    hand slips out of the right position.       We must continue to practice the after the example given us in    Jesus Christ. If we mess up we must ask for forgiveness and continue    to practice to do right by the power given to us in Jesus Christ.    OK, you're a sinner. No one is going to debate that. The question is, How much blood, sweat, and tears do you expend in the battle against sin in your life? In what ways does your answer help explain your lifestyle?    As I attempted to explain in the story earlier I believe that we    get good at the things that we practice. Also I believe we enjoy    the things that we practice. We must really rely on Gods strength    in the struggle against sin , and we must also yield ourselves to    God so that He can work in us both to will and to do his good    pleasure. Prayer: Father thank you for all that you have done for us. Help us not to practice the sinful deeds of the flesh. Please grant us power to walk in the example given us by Jesus Christ.Thank you in Jesus name I pray amen. |
