The Appearance of Jesus

Posted: 12 Aug 2009 06:58 AM PDT

What do the following texts tell us about Jesus and what happened at His first coming? 1 John 1:2; 3:5, 8.

   1 John 1:2

The first coming of Jesus Christ was about what revealing to
humanity the precious gift of Jesus life. When Jesus was
on this earth He made eternal life available to all of humanity.
He manifested in His life and in His teachings and actions the
   way to eternal life.

   1 John 3:5, 8

This text declares that Jesus came to take away our sins. When
He came to the earth the first time His purpose was to redeem
lost humanity. In Jesus Christ there was no sin, and His
sinless life here on this earth condemneds sin in the flesh.

According to 1 John 3:5, Jesus takes away sins. This statement seems to be an allusion to John 1:29. How did Jesus accomplish this task? Heb. 9:26, 28; 1 John 2:2; 4:10; Rev. 1:5, 6.

   Heb. 9:26

Jesus life was manifested to take away our sins.

   Heb. 9:28

This passage talks about how Jesus came the first time to take
away sin, but when he come again a second time it is not for this
   purpose.

   1 John 2:2

Jesus became the sacrifice of sin for the whole entire world.

   1 John 4:10

This passage mentions the same idea of Jesus dying or our sins.

   Rev. 1:5, 6

This passage tells us that Jesus released us from our sins by
   the power of his blood.

In your own struggles with sin, guilt, fear, and lack of assurance, how does the Cross answer these challenges for you? How can you better avail yourself of the hope and promises we have through Jesus, not just for forgiveness but for power to overcome?

The thing about the cross is that Jesus is the one who can save us.
Jesus suffered the greatest challenge any human can face.
Because Jesus was victorious we too can be victorious through
   His victory.

Prayer: Father thank you for what you have done for us through your son.
Help us to trust you more , and understand better what you have done for
us.Thank you Father in Jesus name amen.
