| Posted: 11 Aug 2009 06:18 AM PDT What do the following texts tell us about the nature of sin? Exod. 9:27; Pss. 36:3; 51:4; Isa. 1:2; Jer. 3:13; Matt. 7:23; Rom. 6:17, 20; 1 John 1:8; 3:4; 5:17.    Exod. 9:27       From this passed we can see that when a person sins they are    being unrighteous , or wicked. From this passage we can    understand that God is the one who is righteous and He is    the one who does not sin.       Pss. 36:3       We can understand that from this passage that our words can    cause us to do wickedness, or to be unrighteous. Therefore if    our words can cause us to do wickedly then we can sin by    the words we speak or the words that we do not speak.       Pss. 51:4       According to this passage we can understand that when we commit    and act of sin it is an offense against God. When we sin    against an individual as in Davids case we are actually sinning    against God.       Isa. 1:2       When we are sinning we are rebelling against God.       Jer. 3:13       This passage helps us understand that when we sin we sin Against God.       Matt. 7:23       You can not be in relationship with Jesus Christ if you practice    sin, or lawlessness.       Rom. 6:17       This passage lets us know a few things. We must understand that    sin is connected with different lusts. Lusts are things that appeal    to our sinful nature. We are to fight against these lusts through    the power of God.       Rom. 6:17,20       In order to resist sin we must have a change that comes from the heart.    God must change our heart so that we no longer even desire the    things of the flesh. Those who are slaves to sin are not righteous    and the need to power of God to become servants of God.       1 John 1:8       There is no one that can say they have no sin, this is a lie (except    Jesus).       1 John 3:4       When you practice sin you practice lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness    Sin must not be practiced. WE must all answer the question, what    what are the practicing?       1 John 5:17       Anything that is unrighteous is sin. What's your "favorite" sin? That is, what sin do you find yourself continually indulging in? What are the ways in which you justify it in your mind? How much less sinful does it seem with each passing year? When are you going to wake up and realize that sooner or later, unless you claim God's power to overcome it, it will destroy you    One thing that I have realized is that sin is sin. But because so    much of our world has become virtual we disconnect sin in our virtual    world from sin in our physical world. It would be a crime to walk into    walmart and steal a music cd, but what is the difference from    copying a cd which you did not purchase. Let us not become so insulated    from reality that we don't realize that sin is sin.    Prayer: Father please forgive us our sins. Help us to to clearly delineate from right and wrong. Help us to abhor sin in all it's deceptive forms. Thank you Father in Jesus name I pray amen. |
