| Posted: 09 Aug 2009 06:43 AM PDT Read 1 John 3:1. What wonderful promise is found in there? What does that promise entail? What hope should it give us? See also John 1:12, 1 John 2:29, 3:9.    1 John 3:1    This promise allows us to become God's children. Because of sin we    have become separated , but by the love demonstrated through Jesus    Christ, when accepted we become children of God.    This is a such a wonderful promise because we can call God our Father    When we are in need of anything just as an earthly father provides    for their children so our heavenly Father will provide for us.    Through prayer we have access to heavens infinite resources.    John 1:12    This passage puts a condition on those who would become the children    of God. The condition is that they must receive Him, that is Jesus    Christ. The acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and    Savior gives you the right to become a child of God.       1 John 2:29,3:9       This text gives us an identifying marks of those who are born    of God. Those who are born of God practice righteousness. Another    identifying mark of a person who is born of God is that they do    not practice sin.    Dwell on the implications of the notion that not only does God exist but He loves us, cares for us, and even died for us. How should this reality impact how we live? Why should it impact it?       There are many people who have come into this earth and have    not had the love of a mother and father. Though they did not    have this earthly love , the love of God has always been there.    When we contemplate these things we should be encouraged and    privileged to be apart of the family of God.       This reality lets us know that all who name the name of Jesus    Christ are brothers and sisters therefore we must treat then    with the respect that is due to them. When we mistreat God's    children whom He loved and died for we are mistreating God.    We must love one another just as God has loved us. Prayer: Father in heaven thank you for the marvelous love that you have poured out on us. Thank you for the precious gift of your Son. Give us strength to live according to the principles of your kingdom. Help us to love each other as you have loved us. Thank you in Jesus name amen. Note: We have been down for a bit but by God's grace we will keep the ball rolling!keep us in your prayers so that we may faithfully provide this service. - Administrator. |
