"When a Church Is Dysfunctional"

Watch the devotional now:

Summary: Whenever we start to think that the problems found in modern Christianity are completely new, spending a little time in Paul's correspondence with the Corinthians can provide a little perspective! What was Paul referring to when he talked about divisions in the church?

Verse: “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
—1 Corinthians 1:10

Xerxes and Bible Prophecy - August 26, 2010

"Xerxes and Bible Prophecy"

Watch the devotional now:
http://www.itiswritten.com/television#episodes/3374

Summary: One of the key arguments in favor of trusting the words of the Bible is the supernatural way the Bible's authors anticipated world events centuries before they happened. In today's verse, we'll focus on Xerxes' role in Bible prophecy.

Verse: “And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.”
—Daniel 11:2

Sabbath School Lesson - The Spirit in Us

Sabbath School Lesson - The Spirit in Us

The Spirit in Us

Posted: 25 Aug 2010 03:48 AM PDT

Read Romans 8:9–14. What is
promised to those who surrender themselves fully to Christ?

What this text is saying is something which is very amazing! This passage is loaded with power. It presents the idea that if the Spirit of God is within us the same power that raised Jesus can also quicken our dead members. If you feel like you have something you can't shake, a bad habit or addiction.
Christ is able to bring victory through the power of the resurrection. Jesus can speak life to your dead situation. No matter how dead it may seem Jesus is still able to raise the dead. That same power that raised up Jesus is also still able to raise you up.

Dwell on this idea that the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, is the same one dwelling in us, if we allow Him to. Think about the power that is there for us! What keeps us from availing ourselves of it as we should?

This is something which we need to meditate on. It may be that some do not understand the power which is available to us. To know Jesus is life eternal. Our understanding of who Jesus really is, brings life.

Prayer: Father thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus Christ. Please help us to truly understand who He is. Today we need to know the Jesus who is able to grant us victory over sin. Thank You in Jesus name amen.

"Like a Thief in the Night"

Watch the devotional now:
http://www.itiswritten.com/television#episodes/3341

Summary: If we're studying God's Word and paying prayerful attention to world events, we're not going to be caught by surprise when Bible prophecy is fulfilled.

Verse: "But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, 'Peace and safety!' then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief."
—1 Thessalonians 5:1-4

"God's Leading"

Watch the devotional now:
http://www.itiswritten.com/television#episodes/3342

Summary: How can we know whether or not God is asking us to do something? Is it possible to differentiate between our own instincts and His leading?

Verse: “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood.”
—Galatians 1:15-16
