"Blaming God"

Watch the devotional now:
http://www.itiswritten.com/television#episodes/3268

Summary: This prayer raises one of the most important issues presented in the pages of the Bible: Whether or not God is everything He claims to be. Where is God when people suffer?

Verse: "O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him."
—Daniel 9:7-9

Sabbath School Lesson - Sexual Integrity

Sabbath School Lesson - Sexual Integrity

Sexual Integrity

Posted: 02 Jun 2010 04:30 AM PDT

Wednesday's Lesson - Sexual Integrity

Read Romans 1:26, 27; 1 Corinthians 6:15-18; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 1:7. What is the basic message of these texts to us today?

Rom 1:26-27

Our God is a God of love He will never force us to serve and obey Him against our will. When we constantly refuse to yield our sinful desires to Him there are consequences.

In this passage we find people worshiping what was created rather than the creator, the truth of God was exchanged for a lie. Truth is our protection and when we refuse to accept it we are left subject to our basest passions.

The principle of this passage is that we must acknowledge that God is creator. We must put nothing that is created before the Creator. We must have a desire to accept truth even if it cuts against feelings and emotions. A desire to honor God and accept truth is a protector against sexual impurity.

1 Cor 6:15-18

The deceleration of this passage is that if you have sexual intercourse with someone then you are becoming one with that person. As Christians our bodies belong to Christ therefore we must not join our bodies to anyone else outside of marriage.

This passage debunks the myth that there is such a thing as casual sex. There is nothing casual about sex because despite how careless the act is something spiritual takes place in each instance. This reality is why God intended sex to be reserved exclusively for marriage.

1 Thes 4:3

If one should ever find themselves in a relationship where sexual immorality is involved there is no need to pray about Gods will. This passage clearly states that it is Gods will for us to abstain from sexual immorality.

Jude 1:7

Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of sexual immorality.

What are your temptations, struggles, frustrations and fears in this special area of human life? Whatever your situation, how can you better avail yourself of the promises of God to see you through them?

Prayer: Father we are humans, and you remember that we are but dust. Have mercy Lord , Have Mercy. We need your strength to be pure, we need your strength to resist temptation. Help us Father. In Jesus name.

Do We Really Have a Choice? - June 2, 2010

"Do We Really Have a Choice?"

Watch the devotional now:
http://www.itiswritten.com/television#episodes/3259

Summary: For some Christians, this is one of the stickiest passages in the Bible, because it seems to imply that human history—and individual human lives—are predetermined even before we're born. Does God determine who's going to be saved and who's going to be lost? Do we really have a choice?

Verse: “Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.”
—Ephesians 1:4-5

Sabbath School Lesson - Integrity in Our Spiritual Lives

Sabbath School Lesson - Integrity in Our Spiritual Lives

Integrity in Our Spiritual Lives

Posted: 01 Jun 2010 05:35 AM PDT

Tuesday's - Lesson Integrity in Our Spiritual Lives

Read Ephesians 3:14–21. What is Paul saying to us here? How does this bear on our personal integrity? How can we experience these promises in our own lives?

This passage begins by Paul saying that "He bows his knees before the Father". To have personal integrity we must live our lives in submission to God. When we live our lives in submission to God , we desire to please him in all that we do.

Paul next goes on to talk about the inner man. The inner man is a persons character or their true self. The inner man is the person that you are when no one is looking. Paul desires the Ephesians are internally grounded in love through faith.

Personal integrity is a work of the heart.Integrity can not be accomplished from the outside in but only from the inside out. We must learn to cherish the Christian virtues and their fruit will be manifested in integrity to all, and in all.

What might it mean to be "filled with the fulness of God"? Be prepared to talk about your answer in class.

I understand this to mean being filled with God's Spirit. As we study the word and as we surrender to God more completely He is able to pour more and more of His Spirit into us. He is able to give us His Spirit without measure. To the degree that we surrender we are filled with His fullness.

Prayer: Father please strengthen us in the inner man. We don'want to put on a show but we want to be 100% real with you. Fill us with you love on the inside so that we may shine on the outside. Thank you in Jesus name amen.

"Past Atrocities Committed in the Name of Christianity"

Watch the devotional now:

Summary: Daniel's prayer in this verse is very interesting. Given the stellar character of Daniel, it's not likely he was personally guilty of committing the sins that resulted in the Babylonian captivity. And yet in this verse, he says "we have sinned and rebelled." What can we learn from his attitude, and how can we apply it to Christian history?

Verse: “And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.”
—Daniel 9:3-6
